How Bleta works

Everything you need to know about using Bleta, keeping children safe and printing resources.

About Bleta

Bleta is a platform in Albanian, English and German for children aged 3–10 and the adults who raise and teach them, in Albania, Kosovo and across Europe. Children play, read and create; parents and educators find original resources for home, nursery and classroom.

Everything is made specifically for Bleta. We don’t translate word for word: each language has its own text that sounds natural.

For Albanian families abroad

Bleta is also built for Albanian children growing up in Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Italy, the UK and across Europe. Your child can play and read in Albanian, English or German, and switch between them whenever they like.

A home language doesn’t hold back the school language. Many children grow up with two or three languages without difficulty, and Albanian keeps them close to family, grandparents and their roots.

  1. 1Speak Albanian at home without worry. Your child also learns the local language at nursery and school.
  2. 2Read Bleta’s stories in Albanian and switch on “Read in two languages” when your child needs help with a word.
  3. 3The Albanian alphabet has 36 letters, including ç, ë, dh, gj, ll, nj, rr, sh, th, xh and zh. The alphabet game and the writing sheets teach them one at a time.
  4. 4Mixing languages is normal. When your child drops a German or English word into Albanian, gently repeat it in Albanian without telling them off.
  5. 5In Heart Corner your child can speak in whichever language feels easiest. Choose the speaking language before recording.
  6. 6Stay close to grandparents: print a story and read it together on a video call, or let them record a question in their own voice when they visit.

How it works

  1. 1Choose your child’s age group: 3–4, 5–6, 7–8 or 9–10.
  2. 2Your child plays games and reads stories with no account and no ads.
  3. 3You download free resources, buy premium packs or make sheets with the Activity Maker.
  4. 4In Heart Corner you talk with your child and get a summary every week.

Choosing activities by age

Age groups are a guide, not a rule. Every child develops at their own pace.

If an activity frustrates or tires your child, try the age group below. If it feels too easy, try the one above. The best sign is when your child wants to have another go.

Downloading resources

  1. 1Open the resource in Printables or the Shop.
  2. 2For free resources, press “Free download”. The pages open ready to print; press “Print” or “Save as PDF” and the PDF is saved to your device.
  3. 3For premium resources, after purchase you open them from your order and print them whenever you need. In the prototype, buying is a demo only.

Printing the PDFs

  1. 1Choose A4 paper in portrait orientation.
  2. 2Under size, pick “Actual size” or “100%”, not “Fit to page”, so writing lines stay the right size.
  3. 3Resources marked “Ink saver” are designed for black-and-white printers.
  4. 4For sheets you’ll reuse, slip them into plastic sleeves and use wipe-clean markers.
